Just as eight-track tapes ­morph­ed into cassette tapes, which morphed into CDs, physician office-lab links software has become laboratory-provider links software.

Physician office-lab links, which once primarily linked laboratories to doctors’ offices, have become more sophisticated and far-reaching. They increasingly are being used to link laboratories with such entities as hospitals, surgery centers, and other laboratories for test sharing.

And because the times they are a-changin’, so is the name of CAP­TODAY’s POLL survey. Henceforth, laboratory-provider links it is.
