‘Put it in a micro’ July 2001 One way pathologists can let patients know a second opinion has been given on their samples is “anytime you show a case to someone, put it in a micro,” suggests Dr. Ronald Harris. “Just say, ‘This case was shared by whomever.’ At least then the clinician knows that this was looked at by someone else, and if the patient asks about a second opinion, he or she can say, ‘Yes, it was shared by members of the department.’” |
