Additions and upgrades to Abbott’s m2000 system, 1/14

January 2014—Abbott received FDA approval to expand the use of its RealTime HCV and RealTime HBV assay to run on its m2000 RealTime System. The new mPlus makes it possible for laboratories of any size to perform molecular diagnostic tests for infectious disease detection and therapy monitoring. It also enhances the Abbott m2000’s flexibility and makes molecular testing easier and more efficient.

In addition to the expanding menu, the m2000 system has upgraded software. The new version, 7.0, automates the downloading of test orders from the laboratory information system to the m2000 system with a bidirectional interface that can help reduce the risk of user error and improve turnaround time and overall user experience.

With the addition of HCV and HBV, mPlus capability is now available for Abbott’s RealTime HIV-1 and CT/NG assays within the U.S. and for the RealTime HIV, HCV, HBV, CT/NG, and CT assays outside the U.S.
