June 2013—Abbott has launched its Accelerator a3600 next-generation automation solution, which helps laboratories process tests faster while handling increased volume.
The Accelerator a3600 processes up to 3,600 samples per hour and handles multiple tube sizes and types simultaneously. By automating routine, manual tasks, the system can help labs reduce error and improve efficiency. The system’s modular design offers labs the ability to install up to 99 combined analyzers and modules on a single system.
The modular system automates pre- and postanalytical processing and sample handling in the laboratory. The system consolidates multiple analytical instruments into a unified workstation through a common sample-processing capability. Through communication connections among the automation system, analyzers, and laboratory information system or middleware, the automation software provides workload and sample-order management as well as instrument operational status monitoring.
The Accelerator a3600 automation solution, developed with Abbott partner Inpeco, is available worldwide pending country registration.
