November 2016—Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Applied Biosystems TaqPath ProAmp PCR Master Mix. The mixes are developed for high-throughput genotyping and copy number variation protocols requiring accurate results from samples containing PCR inhibitors and are designed to deliver sensitive and reproducible results from genomic DNA targets. Two formulations of this master mix are available: TaqPath ProAmp Multiplex Master Mix with Mustang Purple for multiplexing up to four targets and TaqPath ProAmp Master Mix, which includes ROX as the passive reference dye. Both mixes enable measurement of FAM, VIC, and ABY dye or other dyes with similar emission wavelengths. The multiplex version also allows the use of JUN dye, or other dyes with similar emission wavelengths, in the channel typically used to measure ROX dye for single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping and other higher multiplex applications. Both formulations are manufactured in an ISO 13485-certified facility.
The mix is compatible with samples prepared from human or animal sources (buccal swabs, blood, and card punches), uses the proprietary Dual-Lock Taq DNA Polymerase hot-start mechanism for setup on automated workflows to provide 72-hour pre-PCR benchtop stability, and detects up to four targets per reaction.
