May 18, 2023—Siemens Healthineers launched two solutions for high-volume hematology testing, the Atellica Hema 570 analyzer and Atellica Hema 580 analyzer. Both analyzers have a throughput rate of up to 120 tests per hour. The Atellica Hema 570 measures 43 cell parameters and an additional 12 parameters are available on the Hema 580, including immature red blood cell indicators relevant to certain patient populations and an optical-based platelet count that reduces analytical interferences found in other detection technologies. Their user-friendly designs aim to significantly reduce daily maintenance while supporting rapid reagent changes. Normal results are released directly into a laboratory information system via the analyzers’ rules-based autovalidation capability. Abnormalities are flagged and coded by severity to indicate which patient samples require closer attention. When results require follow-up actions, such as dilutions or slide reviews, standardized guidance can be displayed to ensure that staff perform next steps in accordance with lab protocols.
