Whole genome sequencing library prep kit, 12/17

December 2017β€”Illumina announced the availability of a whole genome sequencing library prep product, Nextera DNA Flex. The kit enables direct input of blood and saliva samples, eliminating the need for ancillary equipment and reagents to extract DNA and quantify sample concentration prior to sequencing. It also removes steps in the library prep workflow, such as mechanical fragmentation of DNA, quantification, and normalization.

Nextera DNA Flex Library Prep aims to save time and reduce hands-on touch points with β€œon-bead tagmentation,” which reduces total library prep turnaround time to less than three hours. Library preparation efficiency is enhanced with integrated DNA extraction protocols for blood, saliva, dried blood spots, and direct colony. Daily operations are simplified with a kit that supports a broad range of inputs (1–500 ng) from multiple types of genomes. Applications include human whole genome sequencing as well as amplicons and microbial species.
