June 2026—Bruker announced at ESCMID Global 2026 (Munich, April 17–21) portfolio enhancements to its MALDI Biotyper workflow. The proprietary MBT Easy T kit, available for research use only or CE-IVD marked under the EU IVDR, is designed to simplify and standardize sample transfer steps to MALDI target plates. It includes ready-to-use reagents and applicators, supporting up to 2,000 samples, and features room-temperature storage. In addition, the MALDI Biotyper reference libraries have expanded to more than 5,300 species, adding more than 600 new entries across bacteria, yeasts, filamentous fungi, and mycobacteria (for research use only). Corresponding IVDR‑registered library expansions are in progress.
The IR Biotyper application, for general purpose, now includes IR Tracker for surveillance of hospital‑acquired infections and new classifiers for clinically and epidemiologically significant organisms. Newly supported targets include Salmonella typhi, Shiga toxin‑producing E. coli, and Shigella species.
Bruker also introduced a new software version of its MBioSeq Ridom Typer, featuring short- and long-read whole genome sequencing data analysis. The software, for research use only, now includes TB-Profiler-based antimicrobial resistance determination and GAMBIT bacterial species identification, supporting MALDI/IR Biotyper-triggered WGS reflex workflows as part of laboratory‑defined analysis processes.
