In this webinar, we will examine how immune recognition after allogeneic HCT can influence leukemia relapse and disease progression. The session will highlight the clinical relevance of HLA loss of heterozygosity (LOH), approaches used for its detection, and how LOH findings may support transplant strategies, including considerations for donor selection in subsequent transplantation.
Webinar presenter Alberto Cardoso Martins Lima, PhD, Clinical consulting scientist in histocompatibility,
specializing in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) at IGEN/AFIP São Paulo and CHC/UFPR in Curitiba, Brazil

Medical and surgical gender-affirmation therapies for transgender people have introduced a new spectrum to pathology practices. Sex hormones influence both anatomic and clinical pathology, which can complicate result interpretation for surgical specimens, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology. This activity provides tools to help you successfully serve the transgender population and address the needs of your clinical colleagues in this regard.
This activity was originally presented at CAP23 as part of the activity Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Needs in Transgender Care.
Online course was released on 3/4/2024 and will end on 3/3/2027.

Are your transfusion guidelines up to date? Can you cope with a critical RBC or platelet shortage? This activity succinctly synthesizes current multidisciplinary transfusion practice recommendations for all blood components into a logical framework applicable to peer education, blood management programs, and electronic guidance for blood ordering. Included within this activity is a presentation of actual live participants using audience response technology to share benchmarking information on their hospital’s current practices. In addition, you will learn how they can apply up-to-date guidelines to everyday patient problems. Using this foundation, next steps to prepare for and mitigate potential blood shortages are discussed.
This activity was originally presented at CAP23 as part of the activity Can You Bank on Your Blood Supply: Using Blood Wisely and in Shortages.

Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), such as apixaban and rivaroxaban, arrived on the market with no need for monitoring. As the use of DOACs expand, it is becoming clearer that their measurement may be necessary in specific situations, and more institutions are integrating either qualitative or quantitative assays. To help you stay abreast of current medical thought, use cases and audience polling examples are included to illustrate and prepare for new testing. Additionally, this activity addresses questions such as: Which type of assay is most appropriate for your institution? How do you validate these assays, many of which are not FDA-cleared? When should they be used? How do you integrate the testing in the ordering menu for clinicians?
This activity was originally presented at CAP23 as part of the activity Optimize or Implement Lab Testing for Xa-Inhibitory Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC) Detection.
