June 2014—Siemens Healthcare launched the Hematek 3000 System, a semiautomated slide staining system that can stain up to 60 slides per hour. Specifically designed for hematology, the system, which has a continuous-feed loading platform, can be used by lower volume labs as a primary slide staining solution or as a backup to fully automated slide preparation protocols in larger laboratories.

Individual, consistent slide staining optimizes quality and enables standardization for accurate identification of white blood cells, red blood cell morphology, and platelet assessment. Slides are available for viewing immediately after staining, and the Hematek rinse reagent contains the optimal alcohol concentration for proper slide drying, delivering results as quickly as possible.
