April 2021—The Center for Phlebotomy Education has released a training video from its Applied Phlebotomy series that can be streamed online through the Phlebotomy Channel.
Preventing Preanalytical Errors, third edition, is revised and updated to reflect recently revised CLSI standards. The 38-minute video lists 12 of the most common errors those who draw, process, handle, store, and transport blood samples commit that alter test results. The effects of prolonged tourniquet time, order of draw, complications with intravenous fluids, fasting, and more are detailed with emphasis on their impact on test results and patient care.
The video qualifies viewers to obtain one unit of P.A.C.E. continuing education credit.
