Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio, has implemented advanced clinical laboratory diagnostic technology for conducting on-demand HbA1c diabetes testing, as well as analysis of red blood cell, white blood cell, and platelet counts. Mercy did this by installing Sysmex America’s XN-9000 Lavender Top Management configuration.

As North America’s first installation of its kind, the Sysmex Lavender Top Management system, designed and manufactured by Bio-Rad Laboratories and Sysmex America, builds on Mercy’s Sysmex XN-9000 system and further optimizes lab workflow, staffing, and space.

The XN-9000, a scalable, configurable automation system, integrates multiple XN modules, including the Sysmex RU-20 concentrated reagent dilution unit; sample sorting and archiving provided by the PVT LabSystems TS-500; Sysmex WAM decision support software; and Bio-Rad’s Variant II Turbo Link for on-demand HbA1c testing.

With its new system, Mercy will also perform NRBCs with every CBC, IG with every differential, RET-He as a parameter in the reticulocyte profile, and IPF to aid clinicians in the assessment of thrombocytopenia.
