BD Bactec FXI culture system gets FDA clearance

September 2026—Waters Corp. announced that the BD Bactec FXI culture system has received FDA 510(k) clearance. Designed for high-throughput microbiology labs, the system automates vial loading, unloading, incubation, and detection alerts, with an automated loading capacity of up to 60 vials at a time. The BD Bactec FXI reduced mean time to detection by about three hours, from 20 hours to 17, compared with the previous-generation system. The system is available in 480- and 960-vial configurations.
