Epic releases its TEFCA implementation timeline
Epic Systems has announced plans to transition all of its clients to the voluntary Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement by the end of 2025 to enhance nationwide health information interoperability.
Epic’s Epic Nexus subsidiary was designated a qualified health information network under TEFCA last year, enabling health care providers using Epic systems to securely exchange information with other QHINs via the government-endorsed medical records exchange.
TEFCA is an outgrowth of the 21st Century Cures Act, which required that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services establish an infrastructure model and governing approach for nationwide health information exchange.
