August 2014—Thermo Fisher Scientific’s refrigerated small benchtop centrifuges separate samples in a compact footprint and run a wide range of applications. The refrigeration system provides a temperature range of -10°C to -40°C and can maintain temperatures when the chamber is not in use. Thirteen rotor systems provide options to spin swing-out, microplate, fixed-angle, and high-speed microtube rotors. The push-button Auto-Lock rotor exchange switches between rotors in seconds and gives clear access to the rotor bowl for thorough cleaning. The centrifuge also offers one-handed sample handling with ClickSeal biocontainment lids.
Applications for this instrument include mammalian and bacterial cell pelleting, protein and nucleic acid purifications, preanalytical separation of blood samples before downstream analysis, and spinning urine samples.
