May 15, 2024—The FDA has approved Roche’s HPV self-collection solution for use with the company’s Cobas HPV test. The approval allows a person to collect their own vaginal sample for HPV testing in a health care setting. Those who receive a positive HPV result would then continue their care with a health care provider. The test detects HPV 16 and 18 and 12 other high-risk pooled genotypes that put patients at higher risk of cervical cancer. It runs on the Cobas 4800 and Cobas 5800, 6800, and 8800 systems.
