Nov. 3, 2026—The Roche Cobas Eplex respiratory pathogen panel 3 has received FDA 510(k) clearance, expanding the existing capabilities of the Cobas Eplex RP2 (EUA). The flexible syndromic test simultaneously detects up to 19 viral and bacterial targets, with broad strain inclusivity, from a single nasopharyngeal swab sample. The RP3 panel detects common pathogens such as influenza A virus, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, and Bordetella pertussis. It enables laboratories to tailor testing strategies with up to five distinct panel configurations, aligning with local disease prevalence and specific patient population needs. With an automated sample-to-answer workflow, the test requires less than one minute of hands-on preparation time and delivers results in less than two hours. It is designed for the Cobas Eplex system.
