HL7 launches accelerator for device interoperability
Health Level Seven International recently introduced the Caliper FHIR Accelerator, an implementation community focused on improving how data from medical and personal health devices is exchanged, integrated, and used across care settings.
“The Caliper Accelerator represents an important step forward in ensuring that device-generated data, whether from critical care equipment or patient-facing technologies, can be shared and used consistently across care environments worldwide,” said HL7 International CEO Rachel Dunscombe, in an HL7 blog post.
Caliper builds on work by the HL7 Devices Working Group and HL7–Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise Gemini Device Interoperability Program.
Organizations interested in participating in Caliper can send an email to caliper@hl7.org.
Lifepoint Informatics and Docus collaborate
Docus, a developer of artificial intelligence solutions for diagnostic data interpretation, has announced a strategic partnership with Lifepoint Informatics, a provider of laboratory outreach connectivity, health information exchange, and clinical data interoperability.
“Through this collaboration, laboratories across Lifepoint’s network will be able to transmit not only lab results but also actionable clinical insights directly into health care providers’ EMR systems,” according to a press release from Docus.
At the heart of the collaboration is the Docus AI Layer for Labs platform, which generates reports for health care providers that include differential diagnosis suggestions, follow-up recommendations, and potential clinical care pathways, as well as clear explanations of complex medical information for patients.

PathAI and MedStar Health enter into a partnership
PathAI has entered into a multi-year strategic collaboration to deploy its AISight Dx digital pathology image-management system and various algorithms, including ArtifactDetect and TumorDetect, across MedStar Health, headquartered in Columbia, Md.
The deployment of AISight Dx at MedStar is an outgrowth of the health system’s participation in PathAI’s early access program and prior research initiatives. The partnership lays the groundwork for further collaboration under PathAI’s Precision Pathology Network, through which MedStar can pursue joint research initiatives, generate real-world multimodal data, support clinical trial and biopharma partnerships, and co-develop advanced artificial intelligence-based diagnostics solutions.
MedStar Health is a not-for-profit health system comprising hospitals, ambulatory and urgent care centers, and the MedStar Health Research Institute. It serves Maryland and the Washington, DC, region.
