July 2026—QuidelOrtho has completed the acquisition of Lex Diagnostics for about $100 million in cash. The acquisition follows the FDA 510(k) clearance and CLIA waiver of the Lex Velo molecular diagnostics platform in February. The cartridge-based, point-of-care system is designed to deliver highly sensitive, multiplex RT-PCR testing for influenza A and B and COVID-19 directly from a swab sample, providing results in six to 10 minutes. The acquisition marks a milestone in QuidelOrtho’s molecular diagnostics strategy to accelerate its growth in point-of-care molecular diagnostics by acquiring innovative technology within one of the fastest-growing segments of the diagnostics market, according to a company release.
