NWLP inks deal with Abbott, 10/17

October 2017—North West London Pathology, hosted by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and Abbott have signed a $252 million managed equipment services contract for the supply of all analytical equipment and consumables, including Abbott’s Alinity ci and Alinity h series diagnostics instruments as well as its professional services and informatics solutions known as AlinIQ.

CMOS cameras, software, 10/17

October 2017—sCMOS, with Sony’s Pregius CMOS sensor. The RT sCMOS is optimal for fluorescence microscopy, fluorescent in situ hybridization, green fluorescent protein (GFP) imaging, immunofluorescence, and 3-D deconvolution applications. Features include deep cooling, which allows dim images to be seen without becoming obscured by dark current; a global shutter, which ensures undistorted images of moving specimens; and 5 megapixel live and captured image resolution. The sCMOS is nine times more sensitive than the previous RT camera.

Grifols, Beckman Coulter form distribution agreement, 10/17

October 2017—Grifols and Beckman Coulter have entered into an exclusive, long-term agreement for the global distribution of Grifols’ hemostasis instruments, reagents, and consumables. The companies anticipate first commercializing systems under this agreement in Europe in early 2018.

Vitros insulin assay gets FDA clearance, 10/17

October 2017—Ortho Clinical Diagnostics announced that its Vitros Immunodiagnostic Products Insulin Reagent and Calibrators have received FDA clearance and the CE mark. The assay is expected to be commercially available for use on all of the company’s Vitros immunodiagnostic and integrated systems in Europe, in other countries accepting the CE mark, and in the U.S. during the third quarter of this year.

Baebies partners with Labsystems, 10/17

October 2017—Baebies, a Durham, NC–based company focused on advancing newborn screening and pediatric testing, has signed a bilateral distribution agreement with Trivitron’s Labsystems Diagnostics to deliver newborn screening solutions to several markets worldwide. Baebies will distribute Labsystems’ newborn screening products NeoMass AAAC and NS 2400 in the United States after obtaining regulatory clearance.
