March 2017—Sarstedt introduced a 90 mL screw cap urine cup with a tri-sensory proof-of-closure system. Dual click sounds can be heard and two bumps felt as the cap reaches the correct sealed position on the cup.
March 2017—Sysmex America has signed a distribution agreement with Alifax S.r.l. for its erythrocyte sedimentation rate products. The Alifax Test 1 and Roller 20 family of automated analyzers gives ESR results in 20 seconds.
March 2017—EKF Diagnostics previewed a point-of-care connectivity solution for its range of HbA1c analyzers at Medica 2016 in November in Düsseldorf, Germany. Its connectivity package for Quo-Test and Quo-Lab HbA1c analyzers enable secure, bi-directional communication between the POC analyzers and a multitude of central data management systems.
March 2017—Roche announced that its dedicated, high-throughput HbA1c testing solution, the Cobas c 513 analyzer, and HbA1c Gen. 3 assay have received 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration.
March 2017—Illumina unveiled the NovaSeq series and announced the launch of the Illumina Bio-Rad Single-Cell Sequencing Solution at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in January.

February 2017—Micromedic Technologies introduced CellDetect, a staining assay for the early detection of bladder cancer in urine specimens, to the U.S. market. The assay uses color and morphology to differentiate between normal and malignant cells.
