February 2014—ViroStat has developed three new monoclonal antibodies to the nucleocapsid protein (N) of hantavirus. One of these recognizes all viruses tested (six) while the other two recognize four viral species. These new antibodies are useful tools to further the research of this viral genus.
February 2014—Enzo Life Sciences now offers a KIM-1 ELISA kit. Kidney injury marker 1 (KIM-1) is the most highly upregulated protein in the proximal tubule of the injured kidney and is detectable in the urine within six hours of injury. KIM-1 has been identified as an early diagnostic and prognostic marker of acute kidney injury resulting from illness, trauma, or nephrotoxicity, and with decreased kidney function and renal failure associated with chronic disorders such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

February 2014—EKF Molecular Diagnostics launched four PointMan DNA enrichment kits for the research-use-only market, with planned diagnostic registration in Europe in 2014. As a real-time PCR technology, PointMan provides reliable and extremely sensitive detection of cancer mutations by amplifying the target sequence of interest in a background of wild-type genes. Using this technology, the enrichment kits are an ideal research tool for understanding biomarker and drug response.
