Histamine ELISA kit, 3/15

March 2014—Enzo Life Sciences’ Histamine ELISA kit provides a quantitative detection method for measuring histamine in human, rat, mouse, and canine samples. Because of histamine’s potent role in the immune response, it is present in a transitory state in the body and can only be measured within minutes of release. The half-life of histamine in a biological system is four minutes before its conversion to n-methyl histamine.

Hemoglobin analyzer, plasma centrifuge, 9/14

September 2014—EKF Diagnostics highlighted its expanding product portfolio at its subsidiary’s booth, Stanbio Laboratory. DiaSpect Tm, which previewed at the meeting, is a palm-sized hemoglobin measurement system that gives laboratory-quality performance for anemia screening. Delivering results in one to two seconds, this analyzer is CE marked and currently undergoing FDA approval.

Instrument added to Streck assay, 2/15

February 2014—Streck’s A1c-Cellular, a whole red blood cell A1c control with intact red blood cells, is now assayed for the Abbott Architect Integrated ci Systems. A1c-Cellular tests the entire HbA1c procedure, including the lysing of the red blood cell.

Protagen, Qiagen agreement, 2/15

February 2014—Protagen has entered into a long-term collaboration agreement with Qiagen to target the development of novel protein-based companion diagnostics for autoimmune disorders. Under the terms of the agreement, Qiagen will gain access to Protagen’s proprietary SeroTag technology platform, which enables the discovery and validation of novel protein-based marker panels.
