Multiplexed leukemia translocation panel, 1/17

January 2017—EntroGen launched its Leukemia Translocation Panel, a multiplexed, one-step RT-PCR assay that detects 10 variants in six common leukemia-associated translocations simultaneously from total RNA isolated from blood or bone marrow. The assay is compatible with several leading multichannel real-time PCR instruments capable of detecting four commonly used fluorescent probes and produces results in 90 minutes.

FDA-cleared POC coagulation analyzer, 11/16

November 2016—Siemens Healthineers received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Xprecia Stride Coagulation Analyzer, a handheld, portable coagulation analyzer designed to deliver fast, reliable prothrombin time international normalized ratio testing for point-of-care monitoring and management of oral anticoagulation therapy with warfarin.

IVD CE mark for lateral flow assay analyzer, 11/16

November 2016—Alere announced it has achieved in vitro diagnostic CE marking in Europe for its Alere Reader, a diagnostic analyzer that can be used in point-of-care and laboratory settings. The Alere Reader will be available initially for use with the Alere BinNow Legionella and Streptococcus pneumonia antigen cards, with other lateral flow applications and assays to follow.

Inspirata acquires Precision Medicine Network, 11/16

November 2016—Cancer diagnostics and digital pathology workflow solution provider Inspirata has acquired the assets of Boston-based Precision Medicine Network. The acquisition includes Crosswalk Insight: Oncology, a precision medicine decision-support platform.

PCR master mix, 11/16

November 2016—Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Applied Biosystems TaqPath ProAmp PCR Master Mix. The mixes are developed for high-throughput genotyping and copy number variation protocols requiring accurate results from samples containing PCR inhibitors and are designed to deliver sensitive and reproducible results from genomic DNA targets.

Guideline recommends Olympus technology, 11/16

November 2016—Olympus announced that the American Urological Association, together with the Society of Urologic Oncology, included the Olympus Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) technology in its newly released guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.

Horizon, Ventana sign co-development agreement, 11/16

November 2016—Horizon Discovery has entered into a co-development and commercialization agreement with Ventana Medical Systems, a member of the Roche group. The agreement covers the development, manufacture, and commercialization of cell-line derivative materials for use as immunohistochemistry reference standards in cancer tissue diagnostics to support the development and validation of IHC assays.
