Scalable RNA sequencing service line, 4/15

April 2015—Beckman Coulter Genomics has added stranded, ribodepletion and globin reduction library construction options to its existing RNA-Seq services. The Illumina TruSeq Stranded Total RNA Sample Prep Kit has been validated at Beckman Coulter Genomics for human, mouse, rat, and plant samples and automated on Beckman Coulter instruments to enable scalability and LIMS sample tracking. In addition, it includes the ability to work with samples derived from blood and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue.

FDA clearance for blood bank software solution, 3/15

March 2015—BBCS received 510(k) clearance for its ABO Wheels, a blood bank software solution that is part of the company’s ABO Suite. ABO Wheels is a mobile blood-collection application that allows blood centers to conduct paperless donor registration and screening at either a collection facility or a non-fixed site, regardless of connectivity to the main database.

Collection systems for medical labs, 3/15

March 2015—Transworld Systems, a cash-flow management and profit recovery company, announced a dedicated division to work with medical laboratories. Profit Recovery and Profit Recovery Plus are flat-fee, automated collection systems that generate diplomatic, written demands from a third party. According to the company, flat-fee written contacts are getting outstanding results in the low-balance, high-volume environment laboratories create. The initiative is headed by Michael Paro, accounts receivable advisory specialist for medical labs.
