September 2014—EKF Diagnostics highlighted its expanding product portfolio at its subsidiary’s booth, Stanbio Laboratory. DiaSpect Tm, which previewed at the meeting, is a palm-sized hemoglobin measurement system that gives laboratory-quality performance for anemia screening. Delivering results in one to two seconds, this analyzer is CE marked and currently undergoing FDA approval.
February 2014—Streck’s A1c-Cellular, a whole red blood cell A1c control with intact red blood cells, is now assayed for the Abbott Architect Integrated ci Systems. A1c-Cellular tests the entire HbA1c procedure, including the lysing of the red blood cell.
February 2014—Protagen has entered into a long-term collaboration agreement with Qiagen to target the development of novel protein-based companion diagnostics for autoimmune disorders. Under the terms of the agreement, Qiagen will gain access to Protagen’s proprietary SeroTag technology platform, which enables the discovery and validation of novel protein-based marker panels.

February 2014—Meridian Life Science offers several products suitable for the development of an ELISA detection assay for Ebola. The new Ebola reagents are C01762M MAb to Ebola virus, C86037M MAb to Ebola virus, C86180M MAb to Ebola virus, R01577 Ebola Zaire Nucleoprotein (E. coli) recombinant, and R01578 Ebola Sudan Nucleoprotein (E. coli) recombinant.
February 2014—EKF Diagnostics has entered a multiyear collaborative relationship with Joslin Diabetes Center in support of the ongoing clinical and commercial translation of tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 and 2 biomarkers. EKF will access certain clinical and research expertise at Joslin under the center’s corporate liaison program to further develop its TNFR biomarker test.
February 2014—Primera Technology’s robotic-based, auto-loading version of the Signature Cassette Printer, model SCP-R, is now available. Signature Cassette Printer is designed for use in pathology and histology labs to print high-resolution text, graphics, and barcodes on tissue cassettes. It uses thermal transfer ink ribbons instead of solvent ink-jet or laser ablation.
February 2014—Crescendo Bioscience, a wholly owned subsidiary of Myriad Genetics, presented data that showed Vectra DA is a better predictor of radiographic progression over two years than other tests used to assess risk of joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis.
