May 2014—WaferGen Bio-systems acquired the NGS library preparation business from IntegenX. Pursuant to the purchase agreement, the company acquired substantially all of the assets of IntegenX’s product line used in connection with developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling instruments and reagents relating to library preparation for NGS.

Illumina expands portfolio, 5/14

May 2014—Illumina is making available new products that can be applied directly to the discovery and translation of genomic variation in blood and tissue associated with cancer.

Monoclonal SOX10 antibody, 5/14

May 2014—Biocare Medical released a mouse monoclonal SOX10 antibody. SOX10 is expressed in 97 to 100 percent of desmoplastic and spindle cell melanomas and in 100 percent of nevi.

Colorectal cancer screening kits, 4/14

April 2014—EntroGen expanded its line of colorectal cancer screening products to include the EntroGen K-Ras and N-Ras Mutation Analysis kits. The kits are updated to include coverage for exon 2, 3, and 4 mutations in both genes. The company obtained a CE IVD mark for these products.

Horizon-Haplogen agreement, 4/14

April 2014—Horizon Discovery signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Haplogen in which customers can access, directly from Horizon, Haplogen’s Haploid Gene Trap Mutant Collection of isogenic human cell lines deficient for the expression of single genes. This is the first time Horizon will distribute another company’s products.
