Thermal profiling system, 4/13:88

SciGene Corp.’s Hyb-Ice thermal profiling system performs everyday temperature profiles. The system consists of a programmable heating/cooling base and removable block that heat and cool samples from 4° to 99°C. It accommodates a variety of quick-change blocks to fit nearly any tube or plate.

Liquid chemistry linearity test set, 4/13:88

Quality Laboratory Solutions has added to its LinChek product line of calibration verification/linearity material a chemistry linearity test set. The new test set is a liquid product packaged as six distinct levels with three ampules of 1 mL for each level. Twenty-five different analytes, including the most-requested tests, are included. An 18-month supply of product is available with each test set by providing three separate sets of linearity material.

Customized system for cytogenetics assay, 4/13:88

Hamilton Robotics announced that the CytoScan automated target preparation solution from Affymetrix is built on Hamilton’s customizable Microlab Nimbus 96 workstation. The Nimbus 96 instrument automates target preparation for the CytoScan cytogenetics solution, which offers broad coverage for detecting human chromosomal aberrations.

Calibrator, control for hematology system, 4/13:88

Streck’s CVA, an assayed linearity control kit used to determine the patient reportable range of three- and five-part hematology instruments, is now assayed for Beckman Coulter’s UniCel DxH 800. CVA establishes an instrument’s reportable range and verifies linearity, testing the instrument’s extreme upper and lower limits, ensuring that patient results are valid.

Gram-negative blood culture test, 4/13:88

Nanosphere has obtained the CE-IVD Mark for its gram-negative blood culture test (BC-GN) on the automated sample-to-result Verigene system. The test expands Nanosphere’s infectious disease test capabilities to include rapid detection of bacteria that can cause deadly bloodstream infections.

IHC-based kit for tumor invasiveness, 4/13:88

Oncomatrix’s DMTXinvaScan is an immunohistochemistry-based kit designed to diagnose and predict the invasiveness of pancreas, breast, lung, colon, and head and neck tumors. The main component of DMTXinva-Scan is a monoclonal antibody that detects collagen XI-α1. Oncomatrix developed and clinically validated this antibody.

RNA FISH technology, 4/13:87

Biosearch Technologies has acquired exclusive worldwide rights to continuing Stellaris RNA FISH-based inventions from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In addition to single-molecule detection of mRNA, lncRNA, and viral RNAs, Stellaris-based methods have been extended to directly and quantitatively detect chromosomal diseases caused by translocations and aberrant splice junctions and single-nucleotide polymorphisms.

Group A/B strep tests, 4/13:87

Meridian Bioscience’s Illumigene group A Streptococcus and group B Streptococcus tests have been recategorized under CLIA as moderate complexity. The new categorization of these tests allows the Illumigene platform to be available to all moderate-complexity labs in U.S. hospitals and clinics, allowing them to offer an accurate, rapid, simple molecular test for each of these pathogens.

Urine chemistry control, 4/13:87

Audit MicroControls’ MicroFD urine chemistry control, two levels, is intended to simulate human patient samples for monitoring the precision of laboratory testing procedures for urine chemistry assays, including amylase, calcium, chloride, creatinine, glucose, magnesium, microalbumin, microprotein, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, urea nitrogen, and uric acid.
