Biocartis and Fast-track Diagnostics have entered into a strategic collaboration to develop a range of multiplex infectious disease tests to run on the Biocartis Idylla system. The two companies plan to collaborate on a new approach to infectious disease diagnostics, “syndromic multiplex testing,” which enables the identification of a broad range of disease pathogens in a single test.
DiaSorin and Beckman Coulter Diagnostics have signed a distribution partnership agreement for the commercialization in China of DiaSorin Hepatitis B, C, and HIV tests on DiaSorin’s Liaison XL LAS connected to Beckman Coulter’s Power Express and Power Processor automated sample processing systems.
BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s Diagnostic Laboratories, part of Versiti, announced the availability of genetic deletion/duplication analysis. Using array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH), this test provides timely detection of deletions and/or duplications that may escape detection with standard DNA sequencing tests. The test allows for the detection of deletions and duplications within a given gene, whether within a single exon, encompassing one or more exons, or the entire gene.

Sekisui Diagnostics launched the Sekure brand of clinical chemistry reagents. Sekisui develops, manufactures, and supplies clinical chemistry reagents and systems to the in vitro diagnostics industry, selling more than 1.5 billion clinical chemistry tests per year.
EDP Biotech has entered into distribution agreements with more than 25 distribution channel partners throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. EDP plans a multiphase rollout of ColoMarker, a blood test that aids in the detection of early stage colorectal cancer, in 2015 to gain experience and data in conjunction with key opinion leaders and distributor partners.
Copan has obtained FDA clearance for its FecalSwab, which comprises a regular size Copan flocked swab (FloqSwab) and a screw-cap tube containing 2 mL of Cary-Blair medium. FecalSwab is intended for the collection of rectal swabs and fecal specimens and to preserve the viability of enteric pathogenic bacteria during transport from the collection site to the testing laboratory.
