Biocartis, Fast-track sign strategic collaboration, 9/15
Biocartis and Fast-track Diagnostics have entered into a strategic collaboration to develop a range of multiplex infectious disease tests to run on the Biocartis Idylla system. The two companies plan to collaborate on a new approach to infectious disease diagnostics, “syndromic multiplex testing,” which enables the identification of a broad range of disease pathogens in a single test.
DiaSorin, Beckman Coulter sign distribution partnership, 9/15
DiaSorin and Beckman Coulter Diagnostics have signed a distribution partnership agreement for the commercialization in China of DiaSorin Hepatitis B, C, and HIV tests on DiaSorin’s Liaison XL LAS connected to Beckman Coulter’s Power Express and Power Processor automated sample processing systems.
Gene deletion/duplication analysis, 9/15
BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s Diagnostic Laboratories, part of Versiti, announced the availability of genetic deletion/duplication analysis. Using array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH), this test provides timely detection of deletions and/or duplications that may escape detection with standard DNA sequencing tests. The test allows for the detection of deletions and duplications within a given gene, whether within a single exon, encompassing one or more exons, or the entire gene.
CLSI Excellence Awards, 9/15
CLSI’s Excellence Awards are bestowed on volunteers who are dedicated and committed to the organization’s mission and who significantly contribute their services to the development, implementation, and promotion of consensus standards. Next-generation cell culture line, 9/15
Sarstedt introduced its next generation of cell culture flasks, dishes, and plates redesigned for “superior growth, economic handling, and traceability,” according to a company statement. All items are imprinted with lot number and expiration date and are individually color-coded for one of three culture surfaces. Flasks and dishes are packaged in resealable zip bags, and individual plate packaging has been optimized for easy opening and compact storage.
Antibody and biomarker search engine update, 8/15
Visabl.com, a cloud-based antibody and biomarker search engine, announced its largest website update. The latest iteration of the Visabl website features several enhancements and improvements to the site and user interface, including a faster targeted search of biomarkers and the ability to dynamically sort and populate results as the user types.
Clinical chemistry reagents, 8/15
Sekisui Diagnostics launched the Sekure brand of clinical chemistry reagents. Sekisui develops, manufactures, and supplies clinical chemistry reagents and systems to the in vitro diagnostics industry, selling more than 1.5 billion clinical chemistry tests per year.
Distribution partnership agreements, 8/15
EDP Biotech has entered into distribution agreements with more than 25 distribution channel partners throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. EDP plans a multiphase rollout of ColoMarker, a blood test that aids in the detection of early stage colorectal cancer, in 2015 to gain experience and data in conjunction with key opinion leaders and distributor partners.
FDA clearance for FecalSwab, 8/15
Copan has obtained FDA clearance for its FecalSwab, which comprises a regular size Copan flocked swab (FloqSwab) and a screw-cap tube containing 2 mL of Cary-Blair medium. FecalSwab is intended for the collection of rectal swabs and fecal specimens and to preserve the viability of enteric pathogenic bacteria during transport from the collection site to the testing laboratory.
