EVENT DETAILS
The Laboratory Medical Direction (LMD) Program is a CME program designed for pathologists who are current or potential medical directors and who have operational responsibilities for one or more units of a laboratory as well as individuals with laboratory management responsibilities. The program also helps advance the careers of pathologists who want to move into the laboratory medical director roles, and those already in such roles who seek to improve their skills.
The focus is on equipping pathologists with practical skills, tools, and techniques that they can implement in their laboratories to ensure more effective and efficient operations and more effective patient care.
The curriculum consists of seven online CME activities (18.0 CME hours) and a 1.5-day in-person workshop (12 CME hours). The in-person educational experience will be led by a team of expert faculty. This curriculum should be completed prior to attending the in-person Laboratory Medical Direction Workshop. All online activities are prerequisites to attending the workshop and will be made available to participants no later than March 25, 2024.
As a result of completing the LMD program, qualified program participants will be able to:
• Integrate lab data and their own medical knowledge to interpret operational trends and determine the implications
• Identify the steps, tools, and monitors required to implement a quality management program
• Apply a risk management process to identify risk factors and develop action plans
• Use communication strategies to clearly express ideas and positions, manage resistance, and create an open dialogue
• Identify and use team building skills to enable effective and efficient laboratory operations
• Discuss compliance scenarios and ways to stay in compliance
• Execute the necessary tasks to obtain laboratory accreditation

Event Details
Join us at the Cleveland Clinic Comprehensive and Immersive Soft Tissue Pathology Course. This four-day course is a one-of-a-kind experience set in the heart of one of the country’s busiest soft tissue pathology consultation practices. Participants will have the opportunity to digitally preview a wide variety of soft tissue cases spanning from benign lesions and reactive mimics to high grade sarcomas, followed by interactive case-based discussions with world-renown faculty. Interspersed lectures focusing on a practical approach to common diagnostic scenarios will complement these case sessions. During this course, pathologists will develop skills and tools to work-up and triage mesenchymal lesions encountered in every-day practice.

EVENT DETAILS
Pathology in the Mountains focuses on balancing pathologists’ personal and professional lives through a combination of concentrated learning sessions and downtime for leisure activities. Internationally-known faculty will provide insight on topics commonly encountered in everyday pathology practice, focusing on gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and head & neck pathology. Education sessions offering a total of 16 CME credits will take place during the morning hours, leaving the afternoons free for participants to explore nature and enjoy the resort activities with their families or fellow participants. (The first day will begin in the afternoon to accommodate same-day arrivals.)
As a result of attending this program, participants will be able to:
● Identify, assess, and diagnose neoplastic and non-neoplastic entities and their mimickers in gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and head & neck pathology
● Recognize diagnostic pitfalls which have been encountered by the faculty and their peers in everyday practice
● Manage common diagnostic challenges
● Apply recent evidence-based guidelines and developments in ancillary testing to their day-to-day work
● Demonstrate their own knowledge and comprehension through activities and audience participation
