Cytopathology in Focus: Guideline on lab workup of lymphoma in adults

Given that many lymph nodes of indeterminate nature are subsequently found to be reactive, it is not practical to surgically excise every enlarged node. Core needle biopsies can be difficult to obtain from small or superficially located lymph nodes. Thus, the FNA procedure remains a powerful triage method for lymph nodes, especially if lymphoma is not highly suspected.
