April 2019—Qiagen and Tecan Group announced a collaboration to improve the processing of Qiagen’s QuantiFeron-TB Gold Plus diagnostic test. The companies are working together to optimize a solution that standardizes and automates the manual steps in liquid handling for the aliquoting of samples. Customers will be able to use Tecan’s Fluent laboratory automation workstation for the aliquoting of samples for the optional lithium heparin single-tube workflow. The Fluent instruments will be supplied to laboratories through Tecan’s Life Sciences Business division.
Qiagen announced in a separate release a partnership with Ares Genetics to develop bioinformatics and assay solutions to accelerate research targeting the health challenges posed by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Qiagen has acquired an exclusive license to leverage Ares Genetics’ proprietary antimicrobial resistance database, ARESdb, as well as bioinformatics tools and workflows from the Ares technology platform, AREStools, in Qiagen’s bioinformatics products and services for researchers. Qiagen also obtained a nonexclusive worldwide license to develop and commercialize molecular research assays using ARESdb content with Qiagen next-generation sequencing and polymerase chain reaction solutions.
